CORAM, NY. (THECOUNT) — Jaifield Gordon has been identified as the Medford, NY, teen found shot dead inside a BMW early Sunday morning in Coram, according to officials.

Gordon, 18, was found suffering from at least one fatal gunshot wound while inside of a BMW that had crashed overnight in Coram near the Oakview Apartment complex after 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officers say they responded to the intersection of Beach Lane and Judith Drive on a call of shots fired.

Once on scene, officials discovered Gordon in the driver’s seat of a 2013 BMW that had crashed into a parked car and fence in front of a home on Beach Drive.

Gordon had been shot and was still alive.

He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

Detectives say they believe the shooting occurred on nearby Judith Drive. They believe the shooting stemmed from an argument, and that Gordon had attempted to drive away from his attacker, reports LongIslandNews.

The investigation is ongoing.
