LOWELL, AR. (THECOUNT) — Bentonville, Arkansas man, Rick Schwellinger, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck while standing near two parked vehicles on the side of Interstate 49 in Lowell on Wednesday night.

Schwellinger, 46, was killed about 10:35 p.m. after he was struck by a vehicle while standing next to a Toyota that was parked on the side of I-49 Wednesday.

A Dodge traveling southbound on the interstate at Exit 78 swerved and came into contact with Schwellinger, the Arkansas State Police said.

According to the State Police, Schwellinger was standing next to the driver’s side of a 2005 Toyota that was pulled over onto the shoulder beside a 2006 Chrysler at the Lowell exit. The Dodge veered off the roadway to the right, sideswiping both vehicles and hitting Schwellinger, reports 5NewsOnline.

No other injuries were reported in the deadly incident.

The names of others involved were not provided by officials.

It is unclear if anyone was cited at the scene.

Although there had been rain in the area earlier in the day, State Police said the road was dry and conditions clear at the time of the accident.

According to social media, Schwellinger was originally from Irvine, California.
