TX Suspect Amaris Malone ID’d As Victim In Fort Worth Police-Involved Shooting Wednesday Night

DALLAS, TX. (THECOUNT) — Amari Malone has been identified as the Dallas, Texas suspect killed in a police-involved shooting in Fort Worth Wednesday night, according to reports.

Fort Worth police say, Malone, 18, was shot dead in an officer-involved shooting in the 5900 block of Oakland Hills Blvd Wednesday around 9:30 p.m.

Police say officers were in the area to locate a person of interest in the shooting death of a 24-year-old male earlier this month.

Homicide detectives identified Malone as a person of interest in the August 5th homicide. Detectives say the suspect was observed at the scene brandishing a firearm.

Police located Malone Wednesday at the intersection of Oakland Hills Blvd and Boca Raton Blvd yesterday evening, according to DFWScanner.

As police attempted to approach the suspect, Malone fled on foot from officers and presented a handgun. During the foot chase, the suspect allegedly pointed the weapon directly at officers, leading officers to openfire.

The incident played out on officer’s body cam video.

Malone was shot one time. Officers began quick emergency aid until MedStar arrived.

Malone was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Local reports identified Malone as a male, while some social media posts identified the victim as a 21-year-old female. THECOUNT.COM was unable to verify the later claims.
