ELIZABETH CITY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Pastor Preston Pitchford has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle accident in Elizabeth City on Wednesday night.
Pitchford, 60, was the pastor of Symons Creek Tabernacle Church in Elizabeth City.
A motorcycle was traveling on Meadstown Road in Elizabeth City, before 9 p.m. Wednesday night, when for unknown reasons, it crossed centerlines and exited the road way. The motorcycle then entered a culvert causing Pitchford to be ejected from the bike.
Medics transported the victim to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force trauma injuries..
The highway patrol said the crash’s cause remains under investigation, reports WTKR.
