ESTACADA, OR. (THECOUNT) — Stacy Jean Rickerd and Jeremy David Merchant, both of Estacada, Oregon, have been identified as the bodies found in the Mount Hood National Forest near Estacada.

Rickerd, 42, and Merchant, 43, both died of homicidal violence, say the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 9:45 a.m. Monday, deputies and U.S. Forest Service officers responded to a 911 call from someone reporting discovering two bodies in the Mount Hood National Forest.

Upon arrival, the bodies were located in the area of a “shooting pit” off 4615 Road and the 130 Spur, reports KPTV.

Investigators initially called the deaths “suspicious.”

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office determined that both victims died of homicidal violence.

An official manner of death was not provided.

No arrests have been made, and the sheriff’s office said they have no suspect information to provide at this time.

No other information was provided by officials at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
