SCHAUMBURG, IL. (THECOUNT) — A highly anticipated concert benefiting veterans featuring country crooners, Clay Walker and Toby Keith, has abruptly been cancelled after the charity involved said it’s out hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Charity behind Illinois “Freedom and Dignity Festival” says the promoter of the event took all the money and is now M.I.A.

It was supposed to be a big night of country music at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.

Proceeds from the concert were to benefit a Wheaton foundation supporting our veterans, but that was not to be after the promoter allegedly absconded with event proceeds.

As of August 7, ticket sales through EventSprout had exceeded $287,000, which is now unaccounted for. He said his organization is out $340,000, reports WGNTV.
