NASHVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — Country music great, Willie Nelson, has alarmed and concerned fans after abruptly canceling his upcoming tour dates due to a “medical issue.”

The crooner, 86, broke the news to his fans personally on Twitter, late Wednesday night:

“To my fans, I’m sorry to cancel my tour, but I have a breathing problem that I need to have my doctor check out,” Nelson tweeted. “I’ll be back. Love, Willie,” TheBoot.

Nelson’s 2019 calendar is filled with dates with Alison Krauss through Aug. 17, a September string of Outlaw Music Festival Tour stops and additional shows in October and November. Nelson is also scheduled to perform at Farm Aid 2019 in September.

It’s unclear if all of Nelson’s remaining 2019 shows have been canceled due to his breathing issue, or if he will resume touring at a later date this year.

It’s not the first time the musician was forced to cancel tour dates. Fans attending his San Diego concert back at the beginning of the year became concerned after the singer abruptly ended his show during the first song.

Nelson took the stage singing “Whiskey River,” but almost immediately began violenting coughing. The “On The Road Again” singer appeared to be experiencing breathing difficulties before he was whisked off stage by security.

According to concert attendants, say 84-year-old Nelson exited the stage in the midst of concert opener – and did not return.

Nelson’s publicist told the paper that the icon has either “a bad cold or the flu” and would be returning to Texas to recover.

The representative also confirmed that Nelson would be canceling the remainder of his shows scheduled for January. He was slated to perform in Palm Springs, Las Vegas, and Laughlin, Nevada.

An email explaining the cancellations from Ticketmaster says in part that “[u]nfortunately, due to illness, Willie Nelson’s performance concluded early.” source

Get well soon Willie!
