POTTER COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — W Jay Slaton has been identified as the Amarillo Tyson Foods employee killed in an occupational accident last Friday.
An investigation is underway after Potter County officials said 34-year-old Slaton died while working as a material handler at Tyson Foods in Amarillo on August 2.
Deputies responded to the Tyson plant on reports of an occupational accident on Friday.
According to reports, Slaton was working on line equipment when he became pinned between several loaded pallets, said Potter County Sheriff’s Office.
The plant is located at 5000 FM-1912, in Amarillo, TX.
When deputies arrived on scene of the accident, employees were conducting CPR on Slaton, reports NewsChannel10.
Slaton was pronounced dead at the scene.
OSHA is investigating the death and an autopsy has been ordered.
