WI MATC Teacher Kou Her ID’d As Sunday Prairie Du Sac Dam Drowning Victim

PRAIRIE DU SAC, WI. (THECOUNT) — The body of Madison, Wisconsin man, Kou Her, was found Sunday morning after he was reported missing Saturday morning near the south side of Prairie du Sac dam.

Her, 53, was visiting the area with family members when his wife and two of their three children slipped off a Wisconsin River sandbar and got carried away by a heavy current Saturday morning.

The family members were wearing lifejackets.

Her jumped in to retrieve his family and did not resurface.

His family made it safely to shore.

Her’s body was located near a remote island in the town of Troy, roughly 13 miles downstream from the area where he went underwater, Sauk County Sheriff’s Office Lt. James Hodges said.

Her worked as a MATC Madison College instructor.

His death has been ruled an accident.

Officials confirmed no foul play is suspected and his death has been ruled an accidental drowning.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Kou Her Children’s Memorial Fund at Summit Credit Union.
