KS Couple Jason & Julie Huen ID’d As Victims In Saturday Night Double-Fatal Motorcycle Crash

JOHNSON COUNTY, KS. (THECOUNT) — Jason Huen and Julie Huen have been identified as the two individuals killed after a motorcycle in which they were traveling came into contact with a deer that had bolted onto the a Kansas highway Saturday night.

Jason, 37 and Julie, 27, were on a motorbike traveling on I-35 in Johnson County, Kansas, when the fatal wreck occurred. A third individual, Kevin Watkins, was injured in the crash.

According to reports, Kansas Highway Patrol responded around 9: 30 p.m. to I-35 northbound on reports of a crash just north of 167th St. in Gardner. Upon arrival, officials discovered two motorcycles and their riders down.

According to KHP, a motorcycle was traveling northbound on I-35 when a deer ran onto the highway. The motorcycle struck the deer, then struck the guardrail, throwing the riders.

The Huens, both from Gardner, Kansas, were pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The second motorcyclist involved, 22-year-old Watkins, from Florissant, MO, who was behind the first motorcycle, struck debris from the deer after the initial crash and also went down.

Watkins had minor injuries following the crash, reports KCTV.

All three motorcycle riders were wearing helmets and eye protection.
