THIBODAUX, LA. (THECOUNT) — Devantè Turner has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash near Thibodaux early Sunday morning, according to the Louisiana State Police.
LA 1 , 25, was operating a vehicle when it crashed before 3 a.m. on LA 1 just north of the St. John Bridge.
A 2011 Nissan Altima was traveling on LA 1, when for unknown reasons, it crossed centerlines and exited the roadway.
Turner’s vehicle then entered a culvert and overturned.
He was ejected from the vehicle, reports Fox8Live.
Turner was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries sustained in the crash.
He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, noted a crash report.
State police say it is currently unknown if impairment played a factor in the crash. A standard toxicology test was taken and a report is pending through the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
