MALIBU, CA. (THECOUNT) — Daniel Maldonado has been identified as the suspect arrested following a deadly stabbing in the parking lot of Malibu eatery, Neptune’s Net.

According to a release by the Ventura Sheriff’s Department, on the evening of June 22, 2019, a group of car enthusiasts met in the parking lot of Neptune’s Net after the restaurant had closed.

While at the location, Maldonado became involved in a dispute with a 23-year-old male over a previously unresolved issue. The incident escalated into a physical fight, during which Maldonado used a knife to stab the victim several times, according to the release.

Witnesses called 911 and law enforcement officers from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the California Department of Parks and Recreation responded to the scene as well as representatives from the Ventura County Fire Department and Gold Coast Ambulance. Lifesaving efforts were attempted but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Maldonado was located at the scene and arrested for one felony count of murder. He was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on $500,000.00 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on June 25, 2019, reports say.
