RACINE, WI. (THECOUNT) — Off-duty Racine Police officer, John Hetland, has been identified as the victim in a fatal overnight bar shooting in Racine, Wisconsin.
Hetland, a 24-year veteran of the force, was killed following a shooting at Teezers, on Lathrop Avenue, in Racine, WI, on Monday night.
The victim was reportedly intervening in an attempted armed robbery when he was shot and killed Monday.
Hetland’s last day of service was June 17, reports TMJ4.
He served as an active officer, a field training officer and a member of the Greater Racine FBI Gang Task Force.
The investigation and the search for the suspect both remain active.
Anyone with possible information on the deadly incident should contact police at 911.
