LINWOOD, NC. (THECOUNT) — Mary Shives, of Linwood, North Carolina, and Jerri Ann Rankin, of Lexington, North Carolina, have been identified as the victims in a double-fatal, head-on crash in Linwood Monday evening, according to Highway Patrol.
Rankin, 39, and Shives, 29, (pictured,) both died in a collision that occurred in the 900 block of Wilcox Way, US-70, in Linwood after 5 p.m. Monday.

Ranking was operating a Chevy Malibu on Wilcox Way, and Shives, who was operating a Toyota Camry, was traveling in the opposite direction.
For unknown reasons, the Malibu crossed centerlines and into oncoming traffic. The Malibu then struck Shives’ Camry head-on.
Rankin and Shives were pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
William Shives and a 1-year-old child seated in a rear safety seat, were named as passengers in the Camry. The extent of their injuries and current condition was not provided.
Troopers say there is no indication that speed or alcohol played a role, reports MyFox8.
