GA ‘Saturday Of Mayhem’ Victim Gerald Pennyman Dies In Macon Hospital Tuesday Afternoon

MACON, GA. (THECOUNT) — Gerald Pennyman, one of victims injured in a spate of weekend violence in Macon, Georgia, has died in an area hospital from gunshot injuries.

“Li Gilla” Pennyman, 25, was attending a Macon block party when he was struck by gunfire in an incident police described as a “Saturday of mayhem.” Another victim, 22-year-old Deroderick Tawayne “Dee” Ridley, also died from gunshot wounds at the scene.

According to reports, police responded around 10 p.m. to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of Susanne Drive in Macon on Saturday.

Upon arrival, police determined Pennyman was transported to an area hospital in a private vehicle where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries on Tuesday.

A Dodge Charger was seen doing doughnuts and squealing its tires in the area. A confrontation ensued and shots were fired, according to witnesses.

About 30 minutes later, another round of gunfire erupted less than a half-mile away as people ran and fled the area.

Ridley was shot in the back by two masked suspects traveling in a vehicle, officials said at a Monday press conference.

Authorities said at least 200 shots were fired over a 30 minute timespan, reports Macon.

It’s unknown if the deadly incidences are related.

Friends and family members took to Facebook to remember Pennyman:

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with possible information on either incident should contact police at 911.
