MADISON, WI. (THECOUNT) — Wisconsin basketball coach Howard Moore and his family have been identified as the victims involved in a major wrong-way vehicle accident in Michigan early Saturday morning.
Sadly, Moore’s wife and daughter, Jennifer and Jaidyn, were killed in the crash. His son Jerell sustained injuries of unknown severity at this time.
According to Michigan news source MLive.com, the vehicle that struck the Moore family was driving the wrong way on M-14.
Per the report, the driver of that vehicle, 23-year-old Ann Arbor woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of a third vehicle involved is being treated for minor injuries.
The University has not yet released a statement regarding the crash.
Moore has been part of the Wisconsin family for a long time. He served as an assistant coach from 2005 to 2010, left for a brief stint to assume the head coaching role at the University of Illinois at Chicago, then returned to the Badgers in 2015 and has become just as important to Wisconsin as it is to him, reports 247sports.
“He was a part of our championship team in 2008 and he has a passion for UW that is unparalleled,” head coach Greg Gard said when Moore came back to the program. “He loved his experience here and has a deep affection for this place and its people.”
