FORREST COUNTY, MS. (THECOUNT) — Elizabeth Jefferson has been identified as the victim in a fatal two-vehicle crash in Brooklyn, Mississippi on Wednesday night.
Jefferson, 14, was riding as a passenger in a Geo Prizm when it was involved in a collision with a pickup truck while traveling on Highway 49 just north of Main Avenue in Brooklyn.
The impact caused the Prism to overturn.
Jefferson, who was in the backseat of the Prizm, was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Jefferson was a student at Forrest County Agricultural High School.
Officials said the driver of the car and front seat passenger were taken to Forrest General Hospital to be treated for injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt, reports WDAM.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
