HENDERSON COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Krista Noelle Madden, the mother at the center of an alleged kidnapping Thursday, has herself been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Madden, 35, claimed both she and her 7-week-old baby girl, Shaylie, were kidnapped in Biltmore Park. She told police she was able to get away from the kidnappers but that the ski mask wearing suspects snatched her baby.

The baby was later found safe in the yard of a Edneyville man’s home on Thursday after 8 p.m.

Madden is due in court Friday, May 10, 2019. She’s currently being held in Henderson County on a $750,000 bond.

Thursday, Asheville Police said they needed the public’s help in locating a 7-week-old baby who they said was kidnapped in Biltmore Park.

Police said the mother and the baby, Shaylie, were kidnapped by a man and a woman wearing ski masks. Both suspects were described as thin builds. The woman had black hair and the man had red hair, according to police.

The mother was able to get away, according to police.

Shaylie was last seen wearing a pink onesie with horizontal white stripes, according to police.

Police said the suspect vehicle is a silver 2014 Mazda CX5 with North Carolina license plate EMX-5984.

Officers said they have located the car in Henderson County, but Shaylie is still missing.
