ST. CLAIR COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Cody Singleton, of Osceola, Missouri, has been identified as the teen killed in a two-vehicle crash on MO-13 Saturday night.
Singleton, 16, was operating a Chevrolet Malibu, when for unknown reasons, he failed to yield the right of way and traveled into the path of a Dodge 1500 pickup truck after 10 p.m. Saturday.
Singleton was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
A crash report noted the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the violent crash.
A female passenger, 18, was also not wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries. She was transported to an area hospital in serious condition. Her condition has not been updated by officials.
The 53-year-old harnessed Dodge pickup driver was tested for alcohol, as required by law. It is unclear if anyone was cited at the scene.
His two passengers, a 33-year-old male and a 34-year-old male, were not wearing their seatbelts and suffered moderate injuries, reports OzarksFirst.
Both cars were a total loss.
The investigation is ongoing.
