LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Sheila Ward, the mother of “Boyz N the Hood” director John Singleton, has revealed the director is currently “in a coma” eight days after being admitted to a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a “major stroke,” court papers filed Thursday showed.
Ward, 51, filed a request to immediately be appointed his temporary conservator to make medical and financial decisions for him while he is incapacitated.
The documents also include a doctor’s statement that Singleton is incapable of giving consent for medical treatment.
Singleton had no existing medical directives in place before the stroke, the documents stated.
The papers say that at the time of the stroke, Singleton was engaged in several business deals and had been set to sign a lucrative settlement agreement on or around April 30. The documents say that if a conservator cannot sign the papers on his behalf, it will mean a big financial loss, reports WGNTV.
Singleton produced films include dramas such as Rosewood (1997) in addition to action films such as Shaft (2000), 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), and Four Brothers (2005). He recently co-created the crime drama Snowfall, according to wikipedia.
