ATCHISON, KS. (THECOUNT) — Hannah Lager, from Atchison, Kansas, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday vehicle crash near Valley Falls, Kansas.

Lager, 24, was involved in a fatal wreck that occurred shortly after 7:30 on Kansas 4 in Valley Falls, Kansas on Wednesday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Lager was in a Chevrolet Impala traveling on KS-4 when she attempted to pass a semi tractor-trailer, Her vehicle then over-corrected and lost control.

The semi then collided with the passenger side of Lager’s car.

Lager was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The driver of the semi was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

According to Facebook, Lager was a Spanish teacher at Trinity Catholic High School.

A graduate of Benedictine College, a school teacher, a wife, and a mother-to-be, Lager taught Spanish as a high school teacher, working at both Valley Falls and Jefferson County North, according to the websites for the two school districts, reports KQ2.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

According to the statement, she and her husband, Austin, a graduate and current employee of the college, were expecting their first child in a few months. The couple, residents of Atchison, had been married since June of last year.

A special prayer service was held Wednesday evening at the Abbey Church.

The investigation is ongoing.
