OAK ISLAND, NC. — Army Sergeant 1st Class Justin Goff has been identified as the victim killed in a skydiving incident near the Cape Fear Regional Jetport in Southport, North Carolina on Sunday.
Goff, 29, was skydiving when he jumped and his parachute deployed but may have exceeded its wind limit. It is unclear if the victim made a hard landing or something else contributed to the fatal incident which occurred around 10:45 a.m. Sunday.
WFMYNews2 reports the accident happened at Cape Fear Regional Airport Sunday morning according to an official with Oak Island Police.
The jetport is located at, 4019 Long Beach Rd SE, in Southport, NC.
Goff was stationed at Fort Bragg.
