MARSHALL COUNTY, MS. (THECOUNT) — A Marshall County, Ohio deputy has been shot at least three times while conducting a drug investigation, authorities confirmed Friday night. The officer’s current condition has not yet been provided.

First responders arrived to the scene located at Hunters Run off Cayce Road in Marshall County, MS around 7 p.m. Friday after receiving a reports of shots fired.

According to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson, a deputy was conducting a narcotic investigation when he was confronted by a suspect. That suspect then led the deputy on a high-speed chase that ended at a home on Hunters Run.

That’s where the suspect got out of the car and allegedly shot the deputy multiple times, Dickerson said.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside that dwelling, where other deputies are currently trying to get get him to surrender.

The deputy who got shot was taken by helicopter to Regional One in Memphis. His condition is unclear, according to WREG.
