LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Kerry Lathan, the man shot along with Nipsey Hussle in a deadly incident that took the popular rapper’s life, has himself been arrested after successfully being treated and released from a Los Angeles hospital for gunshot injuries to the back.

TMZ is reporting Friday that Lathan, 56, who is out on parole after serving 20 years in jail for murder, was taken into custody at a halfway house and charged with “associating with a known gang member,” according to TMZ.

According to the gossip outlet, Hussle was hosting Lathan at his Marathon clothing store to gift him with clothing for a “fresh start,” following his release from prison.

Five days after the shooting, Lathan, who is out on parole after serving 20 years for murder, was arrested at his halfway house for associating with a known gang member — namely, Nipsey.

One of the standard conditions of parole is not associating with known gang members, and police claim Nipsey was a member of the Rollin 60’s Crips.

Lathan is now in Men’s Central Jail in downtown L.A. where he waits as authorities try to revoke his parole. Lathan is in a wheelchair — the result of the shooting — unable to walk.

As Nipsey was being celebrated for his contributions to L.A., authorities were arresting one of the victims of the shooting for being around him. Lathan had just been released prison, and Hussle went to Marathon to give the ex-con some fresh clothing as he integrated back into society.
