TN Woman Arrested After Riding Walmart Shopping Scooter To Waffle House

CROSSVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — Tennessee woman, Sally Selby, was arrested in Crossville after officials say she rode an electric shopping scooter out of a Walmart and to a nearby Waffle House.

Selby, 45, was charged with theft after officers found her driving the scooter in the slow lane on Main Street, in Crossville.

Shelby told investigators she was got the cart from Walmart and was driving it to Waffle House to get a cup of coffee.

Selby later claimed she had “built the cart” herself and someone had ripped the lights off of it.

Walmart employees confirmed the cart belonged to them. Investigators said surveillance video showed her enter the store and began shopping with the scooter, reported NewsChannel5.

She then exited and drove through the parking lot, police said. The scooter was later returned to the store.

It’s not the first time this has happened, in 2015 Pennsylvania State Police chased the three women into a parking lot of a Super Shoes after receiving a report of three women traveling down U.S. 30 on Walmart scooters.

The women abandoned the scooters and fled the scene in a yellow Hummer.

Police were unable to catch the Hummer.

“The women took the Hummer off-road,” a policeman on the scene said. “We had just a couple of regular patrol cars and couldn’t follow them. Was really muddy. The Hummer disappeared into the woods and we never saw them again,” reports Moron.
