SOUTH PHILADELPHIA, PA. (THECOUNT) — Elias Torres, of Northeast Philadelphia, has been identified as the street racer killed in a crash near Lincoln Financial Field, say police.
Investigators say they are still seeking the other driver involved in the deadly wreck.
Torres, 23, was operating a vehicle after 11:30 p.m. Saturday traveling near 7th Street and Pattison Avenue, when for unknown reasons – possibly speed – he crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. the Jeep Grand Cherokee Then collided with a substantial tree.
The vehicle then continued into a fence and burst into flames.
Torres became trapped in the burning vehicle.
The victim was the father of a one-year-old girl.
Police provided no description of the second vehicle involved.
Anyone with possible information on the fatal wreck are asked to contact police at 911.
The investigation is ongoing.
