BEACHWOOD, OH. (THECOUNT) — Art Gugick has been identified as the victim killed in a crash Saturday night.
Beachwood City Schools confirmed the loss of beloved Beachwood High School math teacher on Sunday.
Gugick and a passenger were traveling in an Uber when they were struck by a driver who ran a red light. The passenger, who was not identified, was also killed in the crash.
Superintendent Bob Hardis wrote on Facebook that Gugick was tragically killed in a car crash on Saturday night:
“Dear Beachwood Community,
With great sadness we are informing you that Art Gugick, our high school math teacher, was killed in a car accident Saturday night. Mr. Gugick and a passenger were in an Uber that was struck by a driver who ran a red light. Both he and the passenger were killed.
At this time, we are in contact with Mr. Gugick’s family, but do not yet know about his funeral arrangements. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Our staff have been made aware of this tragedy and we are putting supports in place for them and for our students tomorrow.
We will pull together as a community to support Mr. Gugick’s family and to support one another through difficult circumstances.
