BOSTON, MA. (THECOUNT) — Daudah Mayanja, of Waltham, Massachusetts, has been identified as the Uber driver arrested and charged with two counts of rape stemming from an alleged sexual assault that occurred overnight Saturday in Boston, according to the Massachusetts State Police.
Mayanja, 37, was arrested after police responded around 1:15 a.m. Saturday morning to reports of a sexual assault near the Hatch Shell, on David G Mugar Way, in Boston, MA.
A preliminary investigation by police from the Boston barracks and the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County led to the arrest of the Uber driver Mayanja.
The victim is reportedly an adult female. She was transported to an area hospital for observation and treatment.
State Police Crime Scene Services personnel and a chemist for Mass. State Police collected the potential evidence for forensic analysis. Mass. State Police are investigating the matter, reports Boston25News.
Mayanja is being held on $25,000 bail and is set to be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court on Monday.
The investigation is ongoing.

This is the second sexual assault involving a Massachusetts Uber driver in less that a month. Jose H. Arevalos-Avalos, 37, of Holliston, was arrested in early February in Ashland on a felony charge of indecent assault and battery on a person age 14 or over after he allegedly offered a rider money in exchange for sex, and sexually assaulted her when she did not accept the offer, source.
