NEW CANEY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Joshua Givens has been identified as the pedestrian found deceased in a ditch filled with water early Sunday morning in New Caney, Texas.
“Josh” Givens, a junior at New Caney High School, was discovered lifeless in a ditch early Sunday morning by an individual jogging in the area. That individual then notified authorities.

Investigators say they received a call of a man down after midnight in the 22200 block of McCleskey Road, in New Caney, TX.
Troopers responded, drained the ditch and removed one victim from the waterway.
Givens was rendered aid but was soon pronounced dead.
Investigators said preliminarily that Givens was on-foot when he was struck by a vehicle possible traveling in the wrong direction.
The offending vehicle did not remain at the scene is actively being sought by law enforcement.
Troopers believe the vehicle will have front end damage.
The victim was identified by his football coach, reported Click2Houston.
The investigation is ongoing.
Authorities are asking anyone with possible information on the deadly incident to contact police immediately at 911.
