TOLEDO, OH. (THECOUNT) — 21-year-old Jesse Michalak and 19-year-old Charles Quinn have been identified as the bodies discovered after a vehicle crashed into Swan Creek, in Toledo Thursday night.
Toledo police say the two bodies were recovered following what appears to be a crash into the Swan Creek near the 1000 block of Fries Avenue around 9 p.m. in south Toledo.
It is unclear who was the driver. Police say the victims were found underneath the vehicle after crews searched until after 11:15 p.m, Thursday night. At that time, crews did not locate a body in the car and were trying to determine if anyone was ejected from the vehicle.
Family members told WTOL crews searched all night and eventually found a body in the area around the car that a mother believes is her son.
Police say another body was also recovered after a Friday morning search.
Crews are currently working to remove the car from the scene.
“We’re trying to get the car up just on the bank and just do a thorough check for if there’s anything else in there, but it’s a dangerous situation because of the location of the vehicle,” said Deputy Chief Rick Syroka.
Lt. Kevan Toney of Toledo police says it looks as if the driver made no attempt to brake.
He says this is being investigated as a deadly traffic crash.
Anyone with possible information may contact police at 911.
