HIXSON, TN. (THECOUNT) — Chattanooga Police Officer Nicholas Galinger, has been identified as the victim struck and killed by a vehicle while on-duty late Saturday night.
Galinger, 38, was killed Saturday night after 11 p.m. by a hit-and-run after exiting his cruiser to inspect a manhole cover, accord to CPD.
Chattanooga Police Department Traffic Division responded to a call of an officer down in the 2900 block of Hamill Road, in Chattanooga Saturday.
Upon arrival, officials found Galinger suffering from blunt force injuries in an apparent vehicle strike.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the collision.
Anyone with possible information on the deadly incident should contact CPD immediately at 911.
