IRVING, TX. (THECOUNT) — A newly released video claims Chuck E. Cheese’s is participating in a sort of “pizza slice recycling” program, a charge that the restaurant is now denying.
A YouTube video series by Shane Dawson, alleges that the popular kids themed eatery “recycles pizza slices that go uneaten by customers,” resulting in reconstructed pies that don’t quite align.
In the video, Dawson alleges that slices and slice lines do not line up, with pepperonis along slice lines not having a match on an adjoining slice, and so on.
Dawson claims this is because employees bring uneaten pizza back into the kitchen, combine it with other pizzas, and use extra cheese as a way to blend it all together.
A spokesperson for Chuck E. Cheese’s tells The Verge that Dawson’s claims are untrue:
The claims made in this video about Chuck E. Cheese’s and our pizza are unequivocally false. No conspiracies here — our pizzas are made to order and we prepare our dough fresh in restaurant, which means that they’re not always perfectly uniform in shape, but always delicious. source
Dawson’s claims could not be independently confirmed.
