AMARILLO, TX. (THECOUNT) — Damon Landon Messer, Amarillo, Texas, has been identified as the victim found suffering from gunshot injuries while in the parking lot of an Amarillo church parking lot Wednesday night.

Messer, 41, was killed in a fatal shooting on Wednesday evening near the Family Life Church, located on Southwest 58th Avenue, in Amarillo, TX.

At 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday, officials responded to the Family Life Church on calls of disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, Messer was found suffering from at least one gunshot injury.

Officials determined that two men were arguing in the parking lot when the fatal shooting occurred.

Messer was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot injuries.

Officials are still investigating what led up to the fatal shooting.

No arrests have been made yet.

An autopsy will be conducted in Lubbock, reports NewsChannel10.

Anyone with possible information of the fatal incident should contact police at 911.

According to social media, Messer worked an an RPR coordinator at AutoNation Chevrolet in Amarillo. He graduated at Amarillo College and attended Tascosa High School.
