LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Last night’s Super Bowl LIII was one for the record books, a defensive masterpiece, but now troubled singer, Demi Lovato, is herself on the defensive.
Lovato, 26, who recently almost died of a heroin drug overdose, attempted to make a Super Bowl joke utilizing the misfortune of rapper 21 Savage who was arrested by I.C.E. agents and is now facing deportation.
I.C.E. spokesman Bryan Cox says the Grammy-nominated artist, whose given name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was arrested in a targeted operation early Sunday in the Atlanta area, and that prompted Lovato to tweet the following:
Big mistake.. Twitter users piled on criticism of her laughing at memes about 21 Savage to make a cheap Super Bowl joke on a serious situation, reports TotalSports.
After those tweets and enduring constant backlash, she would disable her Twitter account altogether saying the incident reminded her of the reason she “stopped tweeting” in the first place.
Maybe not so much Twitter’s fault as it is the author of the tweets discretion.
