PIERCE TOWNSHIP, OH. (THECOUNT) — Deputy Bill Brewer has been identified as the police officer shot to death during a standoff Sunday.
Another deputy, Nick DeRose, was injured in the deadly incident. At 7 a.m. Sunday, fire was reported at the building. Officials say it broke out as a result of the standoff.
Brewer was shot and killed following the standoff with a burglary suspect. The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office said the standoff happened at the Royal Oak, located at 370 St Andrews Dr, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Officials said Brewer was a twenty-year veteran. He’s survived by a wife and five-year-old son.
“This Officer’s valor is now recorded for all time, written in blood,” an official said. “We mourn, and we will remember.”
DeRose was treated and released from a local hospital, reports WSAZ.
That suspect is in police custody as of 6:35 a.m. Sunday.
