BATAVIA, OH. (THECOUNT) — Ohio Officer Jerrid Lee of the Clearcreek Township Police Department, has been identified as the victim in a head-on crash in Batavia Township on Monday night.
Lee was off-duty, operating a vehicle around 8:30 p.m. Monday on State Route 125 in Batavia Township, when in SUV, driven by 31-year-old Justin Watts, of Cincinnati, crossed centerlines, and struck the officer’s vehicle head-on.
Lee was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Watts was uninjured and refused treatment.
Drug impairment is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.
Clermont County Municipal Court records show Watts was arrested on a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide, according to WOWKTV.
Officials say an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
