DYER COUNTY, TN. (THECOUNT) — Jeffery Lynn Jones has been identified as the suspect killed in an officer-involved shooting in west Tennessee on Friday night.
Jones, 61, was killed by police after they responded to a domestic disturbance call after 8 p.m. Friday in Dyersburg, according to officials.
Deputies arrived to a Honeysuckle Cove, residence, in Dyersburg, and observed a male inside the home carrying a rifle.
Officers say they then heard a gunshot come from inside the home.
As deputies approached the dwelling, the man inside then appeared at the glass door holding both a long gun and a pistol.
The man allegedly pointed a weapon at a deputy who then opened fire.
Jones was pronounced dead on the scene of gunshot injuries.
No other information on the deadly shooting was provided by police.
The involved officers will be placed on leaving pending an investigation.
