BARNES COUNTY, ND. (THECOUNT) — Chase Jenison, of Valley City, North Dakota, has been identified as the body found on the Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Officers with the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the northeastern part of Valley City along the CP Railway for an unknown medical issue, according to NewsDakota.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered Jenison, a Valley City High School student, laying dead on the Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks, northeast of Valley City.
Officials have opened an unattended death investigation upon confirmation of deceased status.

Valley City School Superintendent Josh Johnson issued the following press release to students, parents and the media:
Johnson said, “It is with great sadness that Valley City Public Schools confirms the passing of Valley City High School student Chase Jenison. Students and staff will need to pull together and in the days to come in order to find a new normal without Chase. We are grateful for the support from our community partners and other districts in our area.”
