CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — Derek D. Dambacher, of Chesterfield, Virginia, has been identified as the driver fatally struck by a vehicle after exiting his vehicle while on Route 288 south in Chesterfield County on Tuesday.
Dambacher, 53, exited a Ford Explorer that had become disabled when he was struck by a passing International semi-tractor Tuesday morning, according to wtvr.
The fatal strike occurred around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on Route 288 near Hull Street, in Chesterfield, VA.
The semi driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
Dambacher was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
No one was cited in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
