MARSHALL, TX. (THECOUNT) — Ny’Jahl Armstrong and Derrick Bennett, have been identified as the victims in a double-fatal crash occurring about 1 a.m. Saturday on Highway 43 South in Marshall TX.
Armstrong and Bennett, both juniors at Marshall High School, were killed in the accident, and fellow students LaTavion Jackson and Jerrold Maze remain hospitalized with unknown injuries.
According to a post from the Marshall ISD Facebook page, Armstrong and Bennett were killed in the accident.
Jackson and Maze remain hospitalized.
“Our hearts go out to the families of all involved as well as the fellow students and staff who are experiencing the loss of classmates. MISD will have more information in the coming days but for now, we as a Maverick Family pray for and stand with the families of all involved at this incredibly difficult time,” the post said.
“We are sad for the loss of two of our high school students. Our prayers go out to their families of Ny’Jahl and Derrick and for LaTavion who is in critical condition,” said a statement from Dr. Jerry Gibson, MISD Superintendent. “Counselors will be available as students arrive on Monday. It is extremely hard on students and community when we lose students. The students love each other and they are extremely close. As educators and as a community we will wrap our arms around our students, rely on God’s grace and comfort, and love our students through this sad season in their lives.” source
Information on the cause of the crash was not immediately provided by officials.
