NEW IBERIA, LA. (THECOUNT) — Abigail LeBlanc, of New Iberia, Louisiana, has been identified as the victim found stabbed Saturday.

The body of LeBlanc, 26, was located outside a trailer around 9:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Weeks Island Road, in New Iberia.

Deputies arrested, Tren Jude Mallet, 31, and charged him the the fatal early Saturday morning stabbing, officials said.

Around 9:30 a.m. deputies were responding to what was believed to be a medical emergency in the 1000 block of Weeks Island Road when they discovered the body of a 27-year-old white female who was the victim of a homicide. source

Police determined LeBlanc had been fatally stabbed by her boyfriend, Mallet, during a domestic dispute, officials said.

Mallet was still at the scene when deputies arrived and was arrested without incident.

He was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on a charge of second degree murder.
