​PHOENIX, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Edwin C. Bundy has been identified as the victim fatally shot in a Phoenix police-involved shooting on Friday morning.

According to reports, Bundy, 46, was shot by police in a fatal incident that occurred near N 51st Avenue & W Thunderbird Road, in Phoenix Friday after 8 a.m.

Police say they responded to a call from a 15-year-old female about a man who had gained illegal entry into a Phoenix home Friday.

Police say they arrived to find an armed Bundy inside the residence.

The suspect initially followed police commands to drop his weapon but then pointed it at officers, who responded by opening fire.

Bundy was struck by officer gunfire and naturalized.

He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

The female victim was not identified by authorities because of her age.
