CHARLOTTE, NC. (THECOUNT) — Demetrice Antwan Gibson has been identified as the North Carolina man killed in a single-vehicle crash outside Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Thursday.
Gibson, 31, was operating a Buick Lucerne on West Morehead Street after 6 a.m. Thursday when he lost control of the vehicle and struck several trees before coming to a rest.
The solo occupant of the vehicle became entrapped during the violent crash.
Gibson was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force injuries consistent with the crash.
Police say speed may have played a factor in the crash. Impairment is not suspected, according to the crash report.
The Buick began to skid and then slid off the road to the right. The front bumper of the Buick grazed one tree, then continued off the roadway and struck a second tree on the driver’s side. source
