BREAKING CA Suspect Captured In Fatal Shooting Of Newman Police Officer Ronil Singh

NEWMAN, CA. (THECOUNT) — The suspect in the shooting death of Newman Police Department officer, Ronil Singh, was arrested in the Bakersfield area either Thursday night or Friday morning, reports the Modesto Bee.

“Great News….. The fugitive wanted in connection with murder of Newman, CA Police Officer Ronil Singh has been arrested early this morning in Bakersfield,” 10th Congressional District candidate Ted Howze posted.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office would not confirm the arrest but announced Friday morning that it will hold a press conference at noon to release “significant developments” in the hunt for the man suspected of killing the corporal. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office also is holding a press conference tied to the Newman case.

(ORIGINAL DETAILS) – Ronil Singh has been identified as the Stanislaus County, CA, police officer fatally shot during a traffic stop early Wednesday in Newman, California, a city of 11,000 located about 70 miles east of San Jose.

Singh, 33, was able to make a call of shots fired asking for assistance just after 1 a.m., according to a news release from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Multiple agencies responded and Singh was found suffering from gunshot injuries at the scene.

He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries, according to police.

“A few moments later he called out ‘shots fired’ over the radio,” according to a news release from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, which is leading the investigation. “Multiple agencies responded to assist, and Singh was found at the scene with gunshot wounds.” source

California authorities launched a massive manhunt early Wednesday for a man suspected of killing a police officer during a traffic stop.

The suspect — who surveillance images show is a heavyset man with dark, closely cropped hair — took off in a gray, extended-cab Dodge Ram pickup, police said. In photos provided by police, he is wearing a zip-up hoodie and a thick chain around his neck.

The truck had a hood scoop and a paper plate that says “AR Auto,” according to reports.

Singh, a Fiji native, had been with the Newman Police Department since July 2011.

“Our Newman police family is devastated by the loss of Ronil,” Police Chief Randy Richardson said, urging anyone with useful information to help investigators “get this cop killer off the streets.”
