LAKE PLACID, FL. (THECOUNT) — Judy Mounts of Port St. Lucie, and her granddaughter, 16-year-old Destiny Franz of North Fort Myers, have been identified as two of the four people killed in a tragic Christmas day crash on State Road 70 near Fort Pierce.
In all, four people died following a two-vehicle head-on crash before 12:20 p.m. in Highlands County on Christmas Day. Authorities have only released the names of 56-year-old Mounts and 16-year-old Franz.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the fatal crash occurred after a Buick operated by an unidentified person was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane and struck a Toyota traveling eastbound on State Road 70 east of State Road 712, head-on.
The Buick overturned into a ditch and burst into flames.
The driver of the Toyota, 56-year-old Judy Mounts of Port St. Lucie, and a passenger in her vehicle, 16-year-old Destiny Franz of North Fort Myers, were killed in the wreck. The names of the driver of the Buick and an occupant in that vehicle were also killed, but their identities have not been released. source
