NORTH BABYLON, NY. (THECOUNT) – Anthony Cappa has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed Friday in a collision involving a possible impaired driver, later identified as Eddy St. Louis.

Authorities say, Cappa, 46, was walking in North Babylon, NY, Friday evening, when a 2015 Mercedes, driven by 41-year-old St. Louis, fatally struck him around 8:30 p.m.

Police say they concluded the driver’s ability to operate the vehicle was hindered by alcohol when he struck a pedestrian walking on Deer Park Ave in Long Island on Friday.

St. Louis was held on an impaired driving charges following the incident and jailed overnight.

Cappa was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force injuries consistent with the violent collision.

St Louis is scheduled for an arraignment on Saturday, according to records.
