AMITYVILLE, NY. (THECOUNT) — Salvatore Contessa has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed in Amityville Saturday night.
Contessa, 51, died after he was struck by a Honda Accord while crossing NY-110, near North Drive, on Long Island Saturday around 10 p.m.
Contessa was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.
The 23-year-old Honda driver was not injured.
Police impounded the Honda for a safety check.
The investigation is ongoing.
Suffolk County police say Salvatore Contessa was hit by a Honda Accord around 10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Route 110 and North Drive in Amityville. The 51-year-old Contessa was pronounced dead at a hospital. The 23-year-old driver was not injured. source
No one was cited at the scene and no charges have been filed in the case.
