BREVARD COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — James Newman has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed Saturday evening while on US-1 in Brevard County.
Newman, 54, was walking on US-1 near Baldwin Dr, in Micco, when he attempted to cross in front of oncoming traffic at about 7:05 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The victim was not in a posted crosswalk, according to police.
Troopers said a Toyota was traveling southbound on US 1 when 54-year-old James Newman walked into its path. Newman was not in a crosswalk, according to the report. source
Newman was pronounced dead on scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
