SAN ANTONIO, TX. (THECOUNT) — LaPoe Smith Jr. has been identified as the man killed in a San Antonio crash while speeding away from the scene of a shooting early Friday morning.
Smith, whose age was not provided, was killed in a wreck follow a shooting and a resulting police pursuit Friday in San Antonio. The successful San Antonio sports agent represented several NBA stars, including Penny Hardaway and Bo Outlaw.

Police said Smith was driving away from the scene of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Northwest Crossroads after 1 a.m. when he crashed. Police, who were on their way to the shooting, came upon the crash at Potranco Rd, and Culebra Rd, in San Antonio, TX.
Smith was ejected from his truck following the violent crash.
He was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the wreck.
Officers determined that Smith was involved in a shooting prior to the fatal crash at an apartment complex and was trying to flee the scene. He suffered a gunshot wound to his leg during that incident.

Smith was a certified agent through the National Basketball Players Association, according to an online agent directory. He managed L Smith and Associates, based in San Antonio, public records revealed.
