QUEENS, NY. (THECOUNT) — Niklas William Ahern has been identified as the Tribeca, NY, man struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Sunday, according to the NYPD.
Ahern, 29, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while walking on Continental Ave and Slocum Crescent, in Queens, NY, Sunday, authorities and now friends and family have confirmed.
Investigators say the driver struck Ahern with such force it threw him out of his shoes. He then fled the scene.
A witnessed to the fatal incident contacted 911 while the victim laid bleeding and unconscious on the roadway. Ahern suffered severe blunt force trauma to his head and body.
First responders transported Ahren to an area hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.
He was later pronounced dead.
Police did not immediately release a description of the car.
The victim, identified as Niklas William Ahern, was crossing the street when he was hit by a car barreling through the intersection at Continental Avenue and Slocum Crescent in the Forest Hills section of Queens at about 5:30 p.m., authorities said. source
